Can anybody tell me why my computer wont let me install windows XP?

your PC in hung up. whether its windows you are installing or not, it just hung.check the CPU fan, may be you hit it out of place, or it died on you. if all that good, then replace the battery on the mother board. go bios, restore the defaults and restart the boot from the CD again.
